5th Hole - Ireland's Eye

Par 4 - Index 2 - 446 yards

Pro's Tip

Left centre of fairway is the line from the tee. Land the second shot short and allow the ball to run in.

History

The fifth hole is entirely a Colt creation. A contemporary account of the new hole reports “… New ground is broken at the 5th which is now to be played in a natural valley running parallel to the shore, the green being most skilfully designed and calling for accurate approaching.” Originally Valley, this hole was renamed as part of the Hawtree design.
