History

A new Hawtree designed hole. Named after Arthur Edward Guinness, 1st Baron Ardilaun and member of the Guinness family, from whom in 1904 a lease was executed to John Lumsden and Johnston Shaw, granting them the exclusive right to play golf over the entire portion of the island for a period of 21 years. He also presented St. Stephen’s Green to the city of Dublin.
